What you can do
- Play along — the chart follows the song. Click a measure to jump there.
- Library — reopen past songs, search, sort, star favorites, and edit title, artist, and tags.
- Song key · Meter · BPM — fix the analysis key or tempo; the chart and playback update automatically.
- 7th chords — turn on m7, maj7, and 7ths when the song has them; otherwise stay on easy triads.
- Fix a chord — double-click a name (for example Bbm7 → Bbm). It stays saved.
- Fingering — diagrams on the chart; Now playing shows three large grips above Play.
- Transpose & capo — shift for your voice or clamp a fret without re-analyzing the song.
- Lyrics (optional) — generate synced lyrics and edit lines in the chart.
- PDF — download the chart as you see it on screen.
- Private — files never leave this PC.
How it works
- Download from the Releases table above (Mac or Windows). A how-to guide is in the same folder.
- Open Chord Chart and enter your checkout email. This computer uses one registered PC slot. For a laptop and a desktop, buy an Extra PC license. Sharing one computer? Use separate macOS or Windows user accounts so each person keeps their own license and library (each pays separately).
- Drop a song. Play, jump, edit, and save a PDF. Nothing is uploaded.
What to expect
Chord Chart is a practice helper, not sheet music. It guesses chords from audio; you should listen and edit wrong names before you trust the chart.
In our own tests on 50 songs (bar-by-bar vs. reference charts), automatic chord names match about 40% of the time on average — some songs much better, some much worse. Results depend on recording quality, arrangement, and genre. See the Disclaimer for detail.
For clearer charts
Clean studio recordings work best. Live shows, heavy effects, and muddy mixes are harder to hear—so key, meter, and chords can drift. Prefer a clear studio track (MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, or similar). Analysis stays on your computer.
Install
macOS — Apple Silicon (M1 / M2 / M3)
- Download from the Releases table above (Mac Apple Silicon, Mac Intel, or Windows zip). A how-to guide is in the same folder.
- Open the DMG
- Drag Chord Chart to Applications
- Open How to use Chord Chart.html for the guide
- Open Chord Chart — enter your checkout email; this computer uses one registered PC slot; a desktop shortcut is created on first launch
If Mac says it cannot verify the app (Done / Move to Trash):
- Click Done. Do not move it to Trash.
- In Applications, right-click Chord Chart (or Control-click).
- Choose Open. When the warning appears again, click Open.
If there is still no Open button: System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll down → Open Anyway.
macOS — Intel
- Download from the Releases table above (Intel DMG). A how-to guide is in the same folder.
- Open the DMG

Pick the right Mac build: Apple menu → About This Mac. If you see a Processor (for example Intel Core i5), use the Intel DMG. If you see a Chip (for example M1), use Apple Silicon.
Windows
- Unzip
ChordChart-Windows.zip - Double-click ChordChart.exe — enter your checkout email; this computer uses one registered PC slot
- A Chord Chart desktop shortcut is created on first launch

If the browser blocks the zip (Uncommon download): click Keep, then Keep anyway if asked.
If Windows says it protected your PC (Don’t run):
- Do not click Don’t run.
- Click More info.
- Click Run anyway.
If there is no More info: right-click ChordChart.exe → Properties → check Unblock → OK, then open it again.
System requirements
